Q: How do the aims of 'Oh Comely' differ to more mainstream women's magazines like 'Closer, 'Glamour', or 'Heat'?
Oh Comely differs to other magazine's like 'Glamour' because they highlight more stereotypical influences like celebrity gossip, popular/ "in-trend" topics or products, fashion, etc. They embody again the typical feminine colours of pinks and purple. Also focus on their models wearing makeup and colourful clothing. 'Glamour' portray stories linked to beauty and lifestyle. This is similar to 'Oh Comely' because they encourage healthy living, introducing new lifestyle habits and hobbies, music, books, etc. This differentiates with 'Oh Comely' because they have a very minimalist approach.
Most magazines encourage changes, wheres 'Oh Comely' promote acceptance.
Q: How do the aims of 'Oh Comely' differ to 'Men's Health' ? What are their attitudes to gender stereotypes?
'Men's Health' is very different to 'Oh Comely' because they only focus on one main topic - Fitness. They share similarities, when involving quotes and articles about famous influences. Not only basic celebrities, however role models with a political background.
Owners & Publications:
Three friends (David, Lisa and Guy) collaborated together to set up their own publishing company, 'Iceburg Press. Eventually, they bough 'The Simple Things and 'oh Comely' too. They have created 'oh Comely' to be focus on mindful and fresh perspective.

Role & Value of the Audience:
They quote "It's all about the audience".
This is evident of their main purpose. They aim to create a fair and supported magazine press because they want to intently engage with their readers. They have a purpose and intentions when releasing a story.
Representation:
- They’re very minimal to the way they present their model, however this could embed a negative influence towards heir readers as their aspirations are limited and basic I comparison to other magazines or their covers to be more bold and aspiring.

- PREFERRED reading: Their message is more progressive She hasn’t been portrayed as any stereotype of females in the media.- The OPPOSITIONAL reading is that they don't understand the relation to "Power and poise/ words of hard on wisdom/ Surprisingly strong things" with the topics of the magazine.
Narratology:
Barthes' Semiotics:
- Women were supposed to be a dainty figure within society, only seen, not heard. Whereas, power is the opposite of this, suggesting why they have headlined the magazine, "Power and poise". This highlights its irony. How the growth of women have developed throughout society.
- Some other enigma codes could be "Words of hard-won wisdom", or "Surprisingly strong things". This makes the reader question what was hard-won, what did she have to do? Or what was surprising? Is she saying this? etc.
